John E. Wehr, Jr.

Granby- John "Jody" E. Wehr, Jr., 70, passed away December 3, 2020. He was born on June 5, 1950 in Ludlow to the late John and Margaret (Kaeble) Wehr. Jody proudly and honorably served his country in the US NAVY and US Air Force before retiring in 2010. He served during Vietnam and Desert Storm and later worked in Civil Service at Westover Air Base. Following his retirement, he was employed at Pratt & Whitney as an inspector of plane mechanics and parts. Jody was a past Master of the Masons at Mt. Holyoke Lodge and was the previous Commander of the American Legion Post 325. In his leisure, Jody enjoyed repairing small engines of lawn mowers and snow blowers and could always find a way to get them up and running again. He was known for his infectious laugh and always being the life of the party. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed a good game of pool, and had an affinity for nice cars. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Kathleen (Geraghty) Wehr and his daughters, Jennifer Wehr (Danial LeBonte), Sheena Wehr, and Brandy Spaght. He also leaves his granddaughter, Ariel Stanridge; sister, Sharon (John) Cullinan of FL.; brother, Michael (Denise) Wehr of FL.; cousin and dear friend, Woody Wehr; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held December 8, 2020 from 4-6 pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Due to current regulations, John's funeral service will be held privately and his burial at Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Legion.
