Michael J. Gaunt

Chicopee - Michael J. Gaunt passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born August 26, 1962, to Joseph H Gaunt Jr and Virginia (Winoski) Gaunt. Mike grew up in South Hadley. He served in the USAF and was a proud veteran. He worked part-time for the post office and was a Private Wealth Investor and advisor for most of his career and life, teaching many people how to invest and understand the market. He enjoyed all sports especially basketball and swimming and worked extensively on the Gaunt family genealogy project locating and registering many ancestors and relatives. He believed that "everyone deserves to be remembered" through Mike's efforts many people have located long lost relatives. He leaves behind his best friend and loving wife that he cherished for over 30 years Hui-Wen Chia of Chicopee whom he traveled with to over 75 countries and 6 continents. He also leaves behind his sister and life-long friend Deborah Blondek and husband Tom of South Hadley, along with 3 children Michael Jr of New Hampshire, Laural Gaunt of South Carolina and Jeremy Gaunt of Chicopee as well as 3 grandchildren Mackenzie, Michael III, and Gavin Gaunt as well as nephews Nicholas, Alex, Matthew, Chris and niece Ashley Blondek who all were a great joy in his life. Calling hours will be held at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home on Monday June 1st from 9:00-11:00 am followed by a funeral home service at 11:00 am.
