Michael S. Ribeiro

Michael S. Ribeiro, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on January 4, 1941, in Holyoke, MA, Michael's life was a testament to dedication, family, and a passion for his interests.

Michael was a graduate of Belchertown High School, which laid the foundation for his successful career as a contractor in the construction industry. His work was not just a profession but a testament to his skill and commitment to quality and craftsmanship, which he went on to share with his son.

He spent his early years in the vibrant community of South Holyoke before moving to Belchertown until 1963. After a brief residence in South Hadley, Michael settled in Granby, where he lived for 60 years.

Michael's family meant everything to him. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret A. (Marcil), who passed away in 2015, and his daughter, Cassandra, in 1982. He is survived by his loving children: Candace A. Ribeiro, Kimberly A. Theroux and her husband David, and Michael Ribeiro and his wife Tamara. His legacy also includes his cherished grandchildren: Daniel Gagnon, Spencer Gagnon, and Samuel Gagnon, as well as his great-grandson, Walker Gagnon.

Michael's life was enriched by his siblings, both those who preceded him in death, Jim and Richie, and those who survive him, John and Judy.

His children hold dear memories of Michael's musical spirit; he often serenaded them in the early morning hours, walking the halls playing his guitar. His love for music extended to classic country and bluegrass, which filled his home with warmth and joy. An avid tennis player and motorcycle enthusiast, Michael also found joy in traveling the East Coast with his late wife, Margaret.

Brewster, MA, held a special place in Michael's heart. He could spend hours in the harbor, finding peace and tranquility by the water. Additionally, he was a HAM radio operator for many years, connecting with people near and far through the airwaves.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 4 from 10am-11:30 am at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to begin at 11:30am. Burial will follow in West Cemetery of both Michael and his wife, Margaret.
