Owen P. Jacobsen

South Hadley- Owen P. Jacobsen Jr., 86, passed away August 15, 2020, with his life partner, Sheila Kay by his side. He was born on September 20th, 1933 in Greenwich, CT to the late Owen and Francis (Gaines) Jacobsen. Owen has resided in South Hadley for the past 30 years, previously he lived in Granby. Along with being the proud Vice President of a Life Insurance company, President and Founder of Compensation Programs, Inc., Owen also was a life and qualifying member of The Million Dollar Round Table, President of the Springfield Life Underwriters Association, President of the Springfield Chapters of CLU's, President and board member of 12 years of The Children's Home of Cromwell (CT), served as board of selectman of Granby, MA, a church moderator, and a Hospice volunteer. With his B.A. from Princeton, he served as a campaign coordinator for a congressional candidate and served our country proudly in the US Navy, where he was a gunnery officer and an executive officer with first rate engineering officer Pete Bott '55. The most rewarding and gratifying accomplishment Owen had done was sharing in the raising of his seven terrific children who survive him, Owen III, Virginia, Dwight, Sue, Eric, Heidi and Inge. He is also survived by his life partner Sheila Kay, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services are private and Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral home was entrusted with the arrangements.
