Chicopee- Richard Joseph Bator, 70, passed away on September 1, 2026, following a four-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, at home with his wife and children at his side. He was born in Springfield, MA on July 16, 1956, the son of the late Max and Frances (Majewicz) Bator.

Richard was a proud graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 1974. He worked for many years as a Field Engineer with AGFA Printing Company before retiring. Richard was a member of the Western Mass Yacht Club and enjoyed spending his free time golfing, boating, camping, and, most of all, being surrounded by his family and friends.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Donald Bator. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Rose Bator; his children, Cara Lynn Bator and her fiancé Matthew, Brandon Bator and his wife Caitlin, Melissa Newhouse and her husband Eric, and Matthew Weibel and his wife Carrie; his grandchildren, Joseph, Hayden, Camden, Cassidy, Hunter, and Evan; his sister, Sue; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on September 13, 2026 from 9-11 a.m. with personal reflections being shared at 11 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.
