Roger David Masse

Roger David Masse, 72, passed away on October 21, 2026. Born on November 2, 1953, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Roger was the son of the late Lester N. and Alice M. (Monnette) Masse. As the child of a military family, Roger's early years were spent in a variety of locations across the United States and abroad, including time in Japan during his formative years.
Roger graduated from Hialeah High School in Hialeah, Florida, and shortly thereafter made western Massachusetts his home. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in history and geography, subjects that reflected his inquisitive nature and appreciation for learning. Roger also enjoyed spending time outdoors and was known for his great sense of humor.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Alice Masse; his brother, James Masse; and his nephew, David Masse. He will be missed by his daughter, Jessica Atwood; grandchildren, Conner Girard, Emily and Molly Atwood; siblings, Sandra DeSouza, Gerald Masse and wife Pamela, Rhea Hastings, Michael Masse and wife Judy, Suzanne Masse, and Mary Boudreau and her husband Russell; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026at 10am at St. Theresa's Church in South Hadley. Burial will be held privately.
