GRANBY- Roland W. Monfette Jr. passed away peacefully in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 18, 2026. Roland was born January 25, 1958 in Holyoke, MA., the son of Roland Monfette Sr. and Esther Lee (Teachey) Monfette. Roland ("Randy" or "Red") graduated from Granby High School in 1976, active in basketball, wrestling and soccer. He was an Army veteran enlisting in 1980 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, serving in Baumholder, Germany that year, and promoted Specialist (E4) in MOS31V10. In 1983 he was stationed at Fort Ord, California where he received several awards in Radio Communications and Infantry Tactics.

Randy attended Holyoke Community College in 1983 and also graduated from Porter and Chester Institute in 1995 in Mechanical and Electrical technology. He worked many years as a roofer in the Kinston, N.C. region and more recently at Hazen Paper Co. in Holyoke, MA. "Red" enjoyed fishing, skiing, rooting for the Patriots and Red Sox, and was always an artist.

Roland leaves his brothers Michael Monfette (Cheryl) of Virginia and Steven Monfette, and his sister Sharon Dwinell (Jeffrey) of Granby. He also leaves his stepmother Jeanne Monfette of Florida, stepsister Marianne (Hatim), and stepbrothers Allan and David. Besides his beloved niece Kaitlyn, Roland leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins in Massachusetts, Virginia, and North Carolina. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 10:00am at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA. Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
