Sally E. Gauthier

Sally E. Gauthier, 80, passed away peacefully under hospice care on April 30, 2026. Born in Holyoke on July 21, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin C. Tiffany and Elizabeth E. (Selkirk) Tiffany of South Hadley and predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Gauthier of Quebec, Canada. She attended South Hadley High School and La Baron Hairdressing Academy, a profession which she enjoyed for 21 years in local salons culminating to owning her own salon (Golden Curl Beauty Shoppe) in Holyoke before moving to Florida in 1985. There, she retired from hairdressing and proceeded to work at Walt Disney World for 24 years in the Magic Kingdom Park and the Contemporary Resort Hotel. Upon retiring from the hospitality industry, she moved back to the family homestead in 2012 and became involved with the quilters of both councils on aging in South Hadley and Granby. She was also a member of the Hands Across the Valley Quilt Guild and involved with the "Quilts of Valor Foundation" giving quilts to veterans in the recognition of their military services. Over this period of time she made and donated many quilts to local charities.
Sally leaves behind a daughter, Tracy Smith of South Hadley, a son, Bret Maurer of Orlando, Florida, a grandson, Benjamin Livingston and wife Tyler of Orlando, Floridan, a brother, Robert Tiffany and wife Gisele Tiffany of South Hadley, several nieces, nephews and family members in South Hadley and the surrounding areas as well as in Quebec, Canada.
Visitation will be Friday, May 8th from 10am-11am at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a service to begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the South Hadley Council on Aging.
