Wendy died peacefully with her husband Jeff by her side. In her final weeks, her adored family and friends surrounded her with comfort, love, and moments of joy during an incredibly difficult time.

Wendy Rose McDermott was born on July 28, 1963, at Providence Hospital in Holyoke, Massachusetts. At the time, she was the youngest surviving preemie in the hospital’s history—a remarkable beginning that reflected the strength and determination that would guide her throughout her life.

Wendy graduated from South Hadley High School in 1981 and later earned her Physical Therapy Assistant degree from Wachusett Community College. She worked in physical therapy settings across Massachusetts, always bringing compassion, humor, and dedication to her patients. Her favorite role was in Rockport, where she found peace in the salt air and the sea.

A talented and prolific crafter, Wendy created colorful scarves, hats, and shawls that will be treasured by all who received them. She was also an avid collector of Wizard of Oz memorabilia. Her favorite character—the Good Witch of the South—reflected Wendy’s own beauty, brilliance, and gentle spirit.

Wendy will be remembered for her quick wit, her unmistakable “Geoffrion laugh,” and her mastery of nearly every board game she played. Her warmth and humor filled every room she entered.

Wendy leaves behind her loving husband, Jeff; her sons Neil Ruggiero (Sarah Pettengill), Adam Ruggiero, and Jacob Ruggiero; and her step‑daughter Courtney Benoit (McDermott). She is also survived by her sister Anne Vittoria; her brothers Rick Geoffrion (Kay), Jim Geoffrion (LuAnne), and Chris Geoffrion; along with cherished nieces, nephews, great‑nieces, great‑nephews, and her beloved fur baby, Rosie.

A private ceremony will be held at the family’s convenience.
