Georgina Fatima Oliveira
Apr 13, 1944 — Sep 1, 2026
Georgina Fatima Oliveira, 82, died peacefully of natural causes at home in Santa Cruz, California on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. She was surrounded by her husband, Jose, and her daughter, Fernanda, who were by her side in her final moments.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Georgina will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind cherished memories and a lifetime of love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. We find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved family in heaven and is at peace.
Georgina was born on April 13, 1944, and raised on São Jorge Island in the Azores, Portugal. She married Jose Oliveira on September 28th, 1962, in the village of Urzelina. Together, they began building their family in the 1960's, welcoming four children; Fernanda, Mary, Jose, and Fernando.
On July 4th, 1972, Geogina immigrated to the United States of America with her four children to join her husband and begin a new chapter in the lives together. They settled in Santa Cruz, California, where they built their home and continued their life together, welcoming their fifth child, Michael.
Georgina was employed at Pacific Coast Producers before joining Intel, where she worked until the company closed. Following the closure of Intel, she established her own housekeeping business. She later opened and operated a residential facility for ten years before retiring.
She was a proud and longtime member of the C.P.D.E.S. Santa Cruz Portuguese Hall, where she supported her husband during his time as President and embraced the role of First Lady of the organization. She dedicated herself to supporting the hall, leading fundraising efforts and generously giving her time, energy, and resources to strengthen the organization she cared so deeply about.
One of Georgina's favorite hobbies was crocheting and creating beautiful tablecloths and runners. She also loved playing cards with her friends, as well as Bingo and Mahjong.
Georgina leaves behind her husband of nearly 65 years, Jose; her sister, Adelaide Silva; her brother, Roger Silva; four children-Fernanda, Mary, Fernando, and Michael; and many grandchildren, including Lisa, Patty, and Juliano. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, including Ace and Felicia, as well as many beloved family members and friends. Georgina was preceded in death by her son, Jose Oliviera.
