Robert A. Gerber

Robert A. Gerber, 69, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026. Robert was born on December 11, 1956, in Stockton, CA to parents Robert and Anne Gerber.

Robert loved being out on the water. His passion was so strong that he served as a commercial fisherman for many years in addition to him being an engineering technician.

In his free time, he could still be seen out on the water fishing, scuba diving, or kayaking. If he wasn’t on the water, one could find him cooking in the family kitchen, hiking the local trails, or crafting knives. Robert also loved the Wild West and found gold prospecting and cowboy shooting to be fun recreational activities to partake in from time to time. However, with all that said, his ultimate hobby and favorite title was that of Grandpa.

Robert was an active member in many clubs some of them being the LDMA Gold Club, New 49ers Gold Club, SASS Cowboy’s Shooting Club, and the Aptos Grange.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lena Gerber; two daughters, Blossom Ruso and Antoinette Himel; brother Tom Gerber; and sister Anne Shaw. He is preceded in death by parents Robert and Anne Gerber.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to be made in Robert’s name to the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter.
