Mar 17, 1931 — Apr 1, 2026

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen E. Powell, age 95, of Galway. She passed away peacefully April 1, 2026 at home with her family by her side. She was born March 17, 1931 in Keesville, NY to Harry and Beatrice Blaize Panton.

Colleen’s vibrant spirit and joyful presence touched everyone who knew her.

She was truly the life of every gathering—bringing laughter, warmth, and a sense of celebration wherever she went. Her energy was contagious, and her ability to make others feel welcome and valued was a gift she shared generously throughout her life.

She found great joy in painting, expressing her creativity in ways that reflected her bright and colorful outlook on life. As the years went on, she developed a quiet appreciation for the simple beauties around her. She loved watching the birds, finding peace in their daily visits, and took great pride in her garden, delighting each year as it bloomed and flourished under her care.

Above all else, she cherished her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a steady, caring presence in the lives of those she loved. Her grandchildren brought her immense happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Her legacy is one of love, laughter, creativity, and appreciation for life’s simple joys. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.

Colleen is survived by her children John (Holly) Powell of Bayshore, NY, Norman Powell of Galway, NY, Susan (Marc) Brandt, of Hoosick Falls, NY, and William Powell of Porter Corners, NY. Colleen is also survived by her 13 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. Colleen is also survived by her brother Roland Panton of Saratoga Springs, NY and Marie Farrington of Galway, NY.
