Daphne Diane Calchi
Feb 11, 1957 — Jun 24, 2026
Daphne Diane Calchi, 69, of Fort Plain, passed away June 24, 2026 at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. She was born February 11, 1957 in Brooklyn, the daughter of William and Geraldine Calchi.
Raised in her early years by the Angel Guardian Home in Brooklyn, NY, until a loving foster home was available, Daphne developed a resilient and vibrant spirit. With her striking blue eyes that could instantly light up any room, she had a presence that was impossible to ignore.
Daphne was the undisputed "Diva of the house." She possessed a deep love for the finer things in life—especially shopping and fashion—and was always happiest when picking out new clothes. No day was complete without her favorite Dunkin’ runs, and she filled the home with music. Daphne loved to sing, and her rendition of "You Are My Sunshine" will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
Daphne is survived by her brother, Robert Calchi, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends she made along her journey.
For years, Daphne was cherished and received excellent, tender care from her devoted Karolann family. To Daphne, this was proudly and affectionately "my house." The bond they shared was filled with joy, warmth, and mutual devotion.
She will be missed more than words can express, but her song, her bright blue eyes, and her diva spirit will live on forever in the place she called home.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine..."
Rest in peace, dear Daphne. You are forever loved.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church 119 Reid Street Fort Plain, NY 13339. Daphne will be laid to rest at a later date.
