Gregory A Snell

Gregory A. Snell, 73, of Amsterdam, passed away July 29, 2026. He was born March 26, 1953 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Frank and Gladys Snell.

Born and raised locally, Greg graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School with the Class of 1971. A dedicated and hardworking provider, he spent 30 years at Twin City Leathers before embarking on a career he was immensely proud of as a crane operator at GE, where he worked for 14 years until his well-earned retirement.

Greg lived life on his own terms and embraced a wide array of passions. An avid outdoorsman, he was always most at peace when he was out on the water fishing or spending time in nature as an avid hunter. When he wasn't tracking game or casting a line, you could often find him on the golf course trying to shave a few strokes off his game, or cheering on his lifelong favorite team, the New York Yankees.

A truly talented creator, Greg possessed a remarkable artistic side. He loved to paint and had a profound gift for woodworking, finding joy and purpose in crafting beautiful, handmade furniture that will be cherished by his family for generations to come.

Greg also knew how to kick back and have a good time. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino, and travel held a special place in his heart. Among his favorite destinations was Branson, Missouri, where he loved taking in the vibrant entertainment, world-class music, and lively atmosphere.

Greg is survived by his sister Deborah Young (Donald); brothers Bruce Snell (Barbara) and Brian Snell; nieces Amanda Young (Joe DiScioscia), Brandy Taylor (Shawn) and Rebecca Lucido; nephews Taylor Young (Killian), Justin Padrick and Christopher Padrick (Lauren); and sister in laws Cindy Padrick, Doreen Wnuk (Wayne) and Libby Lucido Baum. In addition, he is survived by many beloved extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda, and niece Kimberly Barnes.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, August 14, 2026 at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes - Amsterdam, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam where a Funeral Service will follow at 12:00PM. Interment will take place privately where he will be laid to rest beside his wife in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Greg's memory may be made to Crossroads Community Church 24 Division Street Amsterdam, NY.
