Peter E. Capobianco, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Myrtle Beach, SC, on August 15, 2026. He was born in Yonkers, NY on December 28,1935 to the late Nicholas and Rose Capobianco.
He is predeceased by his wife, Diana, his son, Peter and his brother, Angelo.
Survivors include his daughter, Rosemarie and her husband Thomas; extended family members, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a graduate of Manhattan College where he received is Masters Degree in Hospital Administration. He was the CEO of St. Mary’s Hospital for 24 years retiring in 2004. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves with an honorable discharge.
He was an avid musician performing with a band in many venues in the New York City area for many years before relocating to Amsterdam, NY in 1980. While at St. Mary’s Hospital, he performed in a band named Med Rock consisting of doctors and administrators. He also performed for the residents at Portside Assisted Living facility where he resided for the last three and half years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and involved with St. Mary’s Church. He was heavily involved in various community services in the Montgomery County area.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, August 21st at 11:00 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Private burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
