Claudia Joan McDuffie, 81, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. She was born on June 23, 1944, the daughter of the late William McDuffie and Ruth Ortel.

Claudia was a beautiful person and a multi-talented individual who, at one time, worked as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray. She also demonstrated remarkable artistic talent through painting.

Claudia achieved the title of Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor and worked for many years at St. Mary's Healthcare Addiction Services. Following her time at St. Mary's, she became the Substance Abuse Drug Court Coordinator for the Montgomery County Drug Court. In this role, she worked tirelessly to serve individuals who came through the drug court system, in both the criminal and family court systems. Claudia created the Life Works Program within the drug court, a program that was unique in New York State. During her career in the court system, she was honored with the CASAC of the Year Award by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports.

Claudia enjoyed traveling with friends and visited China, Germany, and many other destinations throughout her life. She was an avid reader whose curiosity never waned throughout her life. Claudia was also completely devoted to her beloved little dogs, who brought her companionship and immense joy.

A public visitation will be held at Betz, Rossi, Ballinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda, New York.
