Helen F. Snell

Helen Dwyer Snell, 90, of Glen, NY passed away at home surrounded by loving family members on April 5, 2026. Helen was born in Vail Mills, NY as Helen Marie Fancher on August 5, 1935 to George and Mary Fancher.

She grew up on the family farm in Glen, NY and attended a one room schoolhouse from grades K-6, then graduated from Fonda-Fultonville High School. Her first job was at the Glove Theater in Gloversville. She attended Amsterdam School of Commerce, earning a degree in Complete Business. She worked for various local businesses, then NYS Unemployment, when she met her first husband, Robert Paul Dwyer. She left the workforce to raise six children. Then, she got a job at Tagsons Paper, working first on the paper cutting machines. Her last few years at Tagsons she was a forklift driver. She worked for GTECH until retirement.

Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Dwyer, her second husband Joseph Snell, a brother Robert Fancher, son Thomas Dwyer and a great granddaughter Madalynn Biette.

She is survived by her siblings Harriet Lane and George Fancher, her children Sharon (Robert) Humphrey, Diana Dwyer, Sean Dwyer, Maureen Goodrich, and Kathleen (Chris) Berry, stepdaughters Liz Conroy and Sue (Peter) Martin, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her good friends Rudy and Connie.

A visitation will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Glen Reformed Church 1526 NY-161, Fultonville, followed by a service at 12 PM with Rev. Thomas J. Flander, Jr. officiating. There will be a gathering following the service at the church meeting area, where food and fellowship will be offered as we continue the celebration of Helen’s life. Helen will be laid to rest in Dunning Street Cemetery, Malta.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Mountain Valley Hospice, who provided excellent care of Helen, or to a local animal rescue organization, would be greatly appreciated.
