John A. "Jack" "Brooker" Brookman

John A. "Jack" "Brooker" Brookman, born May 6, 1932, son of the late James and Bernice Brookman of Fultonville, NY passed away May 18, 2026. He graduated from Fultonville High School, class of 1949. He attended State University of New York at Morrisville, class of 1952.
Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following graduation and served from 1952-1955 in both the 3rd and 2nd Air Wings in Attack Squadron VMF 334 earning the rank of Sargent. Following his military service he entered into partnership with his father in the operation of the West End Garage in Fonda.
He married Sheila Jo Brownell in 1955 and had a daughter Faye Maryse in 1958. Sheila passed away in 1982. He returned to college in 1968 and began his teaching career with H.F.M. B.O.C.E.S and F.M.C.C. teaching auto mechanics and automotive technology. He was a lifetime member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He retired from teaching in 1992.
He was elected Town of Glen Justice after completing training at Albany Law School. He served 21 years retiring in 2013.
He was a member and past Master of Fultonville Lodge #531 F&AM and 32nd degree Mason having both York and Scottish Rites. He was also past president of the F.H.M. Counties Teacher Association and past president of the Montgomery County Magistrates Association. He also served on the Maple Avenue Cemetery Committee.
Jack enjoyed owning motorcycles, Harleys of course and enjoyed riding them for 70 years! He also prided himself in maintaining his property.
He married Judith Engle in 1985 who survives along with his daughter Faye (David) Campeas; granddaughter Emily Sheila (Jordan) Arzi; extended Brownell families; Hernigle cousins; many cousins, and friends made throughout his lifetime. He was predeceased by his brother James.
At his written request, direct cremation was followed and there will be no formal services or charitable donations. He appreciated the many friends he had and was "happy with time spent on this planet!...true story!"
