Sandra Joan "Sandy" Sherwood (Jennings), 86, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Palatine, New York. Born on July 10, 1939, in Patterson, New York, Sandy was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Alta Jennings.
Sandy was a devoted wife to her late husband, Ralph Sherwood, and together they built a life filled with love and family. She was the cherished mother of Paula Hayes (Dan), Robert Sherwood (Kandy), and William Sherwood (Danielle). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Rylan Morrison, Andrew Morrison (Hannah), Katrisha Becker (Kirk), Tyler Sherwood (Kendall), and Lillianna Sherwood. Sandy also took great joy in her six great-grandchildren: Niva, Virgil, Kerrigan, Rory, Evelyn, and Sloane. She is also survived by her brother Frank Jennings and his wife Kathy.
A woman of faith, Sandy was a dedicated member of the Methodist Church in Tribes Hill, New York. Her connection to her church community brought her comfort and strength throughout her life.
Sandy found immense joy in gardening. She had a natural talent for nurturing plants and creating beautiful spaces that reflected her care and dedication. Her gardens were a source of pride and a place where she found peace.
In addition to her parents and husband Ralph, Sandy was predeceased by many loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
Sandy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her life serve as an inspiration to cherish family bonds and find beauty in simple joys.
A service to honor Sandy's life will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be held on March 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home 15 Main Street, Fultonville. A Memorial Service will be held on March 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
