Dorothy Boroson

Aug 22, 1932 — Sep 10, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy (Perpelitt) Boroson of Richmond Heights, OH, who passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026 at the age of 94.

Born on August 22, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of many through her kindness, generosity, and love. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Psychology and worked as a secretary in the 1950's for a company that manufactured electrical wires. She married Dr. Hugh Boroson in 1959 and they moved to Thief River Falls, MN. She convinced him to come back east and settle in Pittsfield, MA where they had three children and later moved to Gloversville, NY. For many years they split their time between Gloversville and Scottsdale, AZ and in 2018, moved to the Cleveland, OH area.

Dorothy was a talented painter, an avid tennis player, and a savvy investor. She was a gracious host who always made room for one more at her celebrated Thanksgiving dinners. She hosted a program on WMHT called "Come Along With Me" where she narrated her travels across the country and around the world for visually impaired listeners. Dorothy was an adept planner who loved to organize family reunions and anniversary celebrations. She enjoyed watching movies and had numerous starring roles in community theater productions. Everything she did, she did out of love. Outgoing yet modest, "Doroboro" as she was known welcomed friends and strangers alike and made them feel special.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, William Boroson (Kathryn LaFontana) of Lyndhurst, OH and Craig Boroson (Tara Boroson) of Spring City, PA; two granddaughters, Talia Eden Boroson and Anika Roan Boroson; as well as four nephews. She was preceded in death by Hugh Boroson (husband), Éireen Cullen (née Bonnie Boroson, daughter), and Lazarus Perpelitt (brother).

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 17th at 9:00am at Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Clyde St., Gloversville, NY with Rabbi Suzanne J. Schermerhorn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to WMHT Public Media at http://www.wmht.org. Dorothy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
