George E. Ellithorpe

George Edward Ellithorpe was born Hubert and Flora Ellithorpe of Gloversville on January 9, 1947. He passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2026.

George graduated from Gloversville High School and was a lifelong resident of Gloversville. He married his high school sweetheart Nancy Campbell Root and they had three children. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent two years serving his country. When he returned he started his lifelong career at General Electric, from where he eventually retired.

He was predeceased by his parents Hubert and Flora Ellithorpe and his brothers Thomas Ellithorpe and James Ellithorpe.

George is survived by the mother of his children Nancy Campbell Root; brother John Ellithorpe (Em); his sons Michael, Erik (Lisa) and Adrian (Teresa) Ellithorpe; and his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Livingston Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility of Hudson, NY for the great care they provided him over his last few years, as well as Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home for the care of George in his final journey.

At George's request there will be no viewing or funeral and the family kindly asks in lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association .
