John M. Davin

John “Jack” Davin Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, in Syracuse, New York from complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease. Born and raised in Gloversville, New York, Jack was the son of John and Marleah Davin. He is pre-deceased by sister Cheryl Horowitz and brothers Ron and James. He graduated from Gloversville High School in 1956, played Varsity football and went on to Lafayette College where he was a member of Kappa Delta Rho and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1960. He also served as Army Reserve for two years between 1960-62.

Jack came home from college after his father unexpectedly passed and took-over the family business. He was a lifelong resident who dedicated his life to his community and his trade. He was the proud owner and operator of John M. Davin, Jr., Inc. Electrical Company. A master electrician, Jack’s hard work and expertise left a lasting impact throughout the region within the specialized commercial and industrial contracting circuit of Fulton and Montgomery County as well as the greater Capital Region during the 1970’s, 1980s and 1990s. His company contributed to countless commercial electrical projects around the areas mentioned, most notably for the Beech-Nut Corporation, LifeSavers and Britt’s Plaza.

Outside of his profession, Jack was a familiar face around town and seemed to know somebody everywhere he went. His daily routine was not complete without a trip to Naif’s for his newspaper and coffee for more than fifty years. He was a voracious reader who dove into everything from history, politics to fiction and memoirs. He was a warm, caring, generous father with a great sense of humor and dedication to his children’s success. He was a loving grandfather to Cole, Giovanna, Jason, Christian, Ashlyn and Aidan.

Jack is survived by his children, Kelly Davin Robar (Stephen), Kristin Davin (Robert), Patrick Davin (Elizabeth), and Kerri Ecker (Andrew).
