It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Joel Christopher Wolahan, who left this world on June 2, 2026, at the age of 39. Born on July 3, 1986, in Missoula, Montana, Joel graced this earth with a spirit as vibrant and inspiring as the music he so passionately created.

Joel was the cherished son of Edward and Theresa Wolahan, who nurtured his boundless curiosity and unwavering love for life. He grew up in a home filled with warmth, laughter, and music, a soundtrack that would accompany him throughout his entire life.

Joel's life was a beautiful symphony of friendships and family bonds. His extreme loyalty to his friends was legendary, and his infectious laughter and crazy growling had the ability to light up any room. Joel was a beacon of joy and camaraderie, always ready to share a good time and a hearty laugh. His generous spirit and profound love for his family and dogs were constant in his life; he treasured every moment with his siblings Kristine, Ted, Aimee, and Andrew. He also has one nephew William from brother Ted and partner Heidi. As well as a brother-in-law Jason, who is married to his sister Kristine.

Joel was a fierce protector of his brother Drew who he called Fuzzy Dew. He stood by his side all through elementary and high school and to his dying day. He watched out for him and would always claim that “He would take a bullet for him”. The devotion and protection Joel expressed to his brother was an amazing trait that you could feel radiating off him. It is a quality that was rare and amazing and genuine.

Those who knew Joel knew they could always count on him. Whether it was a friend in need or a family member seeking support, Joel's kindness and willingness to help were unwavering. His friendships were greatly important to him, and he treasured all of those in his life. He was a man of rare integrity and compassion, whose life was a testament to the power of love and friendship.

Joel was a lover of hockey and played both roller hockey as well as regular hockey in his youth. He was a dedicated fan to his favorite hockey team, The Colorado Avalanche.

From an early age, Joel's talent and passion for music were evident to all who knew him. His journey as a musician was marked by incredible dedication and creativity, leading him to perform with numerous bands. His latest musical endeavors were a testament to his endless quest for innovation and artistic expression.

As we bid farewell to Joel, we celebrate a well-lived life, a life that touched so many with its brilliance and beauty. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to inspire us, echoing through the melodies he crafted

Joel Christopher Wolahan's legacy will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. May his soul find peace and his music play on in the hearts of those he loved.

A celebration of Joel's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor his memory and share stories of joy and laughter.
