Larry Alan Little
Feb 19, 1940 — Nov 16, 2025
Larry Little was born in the family home in Cripple Creek, Colorado, on February 19, 1940, to Maurice and Lillian (Rathke) Little. He spent his childhood in Penrose, Colorado, and later lived in Pueblo, Las Vegas, and Aurora before settling in Berthoud, Colorado, where he spent his final years.
Hardworking from an early age, Larry worked at his father’s filling station and garage during his teen years and drove a school bus as a high school senior. His career included accounting and office manager positions with Ward Transport in Pueblo and Denver; serving as office manager for a group of heart cardiopulmonary and cardiovascular surgery practices in Las Vegas; and later working in banking services after returning to Colorado. Larry retired from U.S. Bank in 2014. After retirement, he served as a weather watcher for CBS Channel 4, a role he thoroughly enjoyed.
In 1956, Larry joined the U.S. Navy Reserve while still in high school. After graduation from Penrose High School, he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago. He valued the camaraderie he found there and took great pride in his service. Throughout his life, he remained actively involved in community and fraternal organizations, including longtime memberships with Elks Lodge 316 in Cripple Creek, the Al Kaly Shriners in Colorado Springs, the Royal Order of Jesters Court 110 in Pueblo, and the Masons of Colorado.
Larry loved bowling, golf, and fishing, and he was an enthusiastic supporter of Colorado sports teams. He enjoyed “going up the hill” to play the slots, sharing good food with family and friends, and finding opportunities to make others smile. Known for surprising loved ones with thoughtful gifts, Larry delighted in bringing joy to those around him. He also had a special affection for his beloved pets, Amie, Buffy, Mollie, and Minnie, whose companionship brought him comfort, laughter, and countless happy moments over the years.
Quick with a joke or a limerick, Larry was well-liked by everyone who knew him. His warmth, humor, generosity, and easygoing nature made him a joy to be around.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of more than three decades, Rose Marie (Ratkovich) Little; his children, Greg (Kim) Little and Lori (Scott) Cooper; and his grandchildren, Kendra (Robbie) Cooper-Martin, Kayla Little, RJ Cooper, and Brandon Little.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Lillian Little; his sisters, Norma Carrithers and Dorothy Wigton; and his brothers, Dale Little and Bobby Little.
Larry embraced his family wholeheartedly, and they embraced him right back. He enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. In his final days, Larry was blessed with the opportunity to share visits, phone calls, and heartfelt goodbyes with many family members and friends. Surrounded by family and held in their love, he passed peacefully.
As a final act of generosity, Larry requested that his pacemaker be donated to Colorado State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital following his passing.
His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished always.
