Peter James Schultz

Mar 26, 1971 — Dec 12, 2025

Peter Schultz, 54, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Peter was born in Creve Coeur, Missouri to Ralph and Morene Schultz, joining his brothers Karl and Kurt and his sister Sally to form an adventure-loving family.  In 1975, the family moved to Western Springs, Illinois where he attended Laidlaw Elementary School through the sixth grade.  He later attended McClure Junior High and completed one year at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois.

Peter joined his mother and father in a move to Richmond, Virginia, where he discovered his love for the culinary arts while working at the Brandermill Country Club.  After completing high school at Clover Hill High School, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.  After spending a summer in Anaheim, California for his internship, he returned to Richmond to bring his talents to the local restaurant scene.  He then worked at the Country Club of Virginia where he made life-long friends and gained valuable country club experience.

Shortly after, he decided to join his brother Karl in Colorado to enter the country club community, working at Red Rocks, Perry Park, and the Colorado Golf Club.  Peter loved the country club environment, providing personalized service to the members.  He became known for many of his creations, one of which was his signature apple pie.

Peter was loved by many for being genuine and for his kind and gentle nature.  He was a “gentle giant teddy bear” who always wore his heart on his sleeve.  Despite encountering many challenges, he always remained positive and optimistic. Peter was preceded in death by Ralph Schultz, his father and is survived by his mother Morene Schultz, brothers Karl and Kurt, his sister Sally, and his niece Olivia.
