Steven Matthew Melton

Jul 16, 1968 — Nov 2, 2025

Steven Matthew Melton, born on July 16, 1968, passed away on November 2, 2025.

It is with profound sadness, we share the news of the loss of our devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Steve’s journey began in Livonia, Michigan, where he spent his early years swimming and biking riding with friends around the neighborhood. He was especially close to his family, spending many weekends “Up North” skiing at a family-owned ski area, or heading south to his grandparent’s home in Ohio.

After moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1980, he continued biking and skiing, both of which he approached with a true daredevil spirit. He attended Boulder High School and eventually went on to establish Melton Enterprises, a thriving local irrigation business. On August 22, 1992, he married Sonja, the love of his life, and together they welcomed their treasured son, Anthony, on January 12, 1995.

Steve was a man of many talents and passions. From camping to skiing, bike riding, and golfing, he loved being outdoors. Indoors, he loved relaxing with his wife, watching true crime shows, and playing with his dogs. He was especially fond of working on cars with his son, adding after-market parts and just hanging out. He was also well known for his mechanical ability and there was nothing he could not fix or build with expertise, helping out many family members and friends through the years.

After retirement, Steve found fulfillment driving for Uber and Lyft, where his outgoing personality and passion for connecting with people made every ride special. He is preceded in death by his sister Stephanie; his parents, Barbara and Donald; father-in-law Darrel Foth; and brother-in-law Kurt Foth. He leaves behind his loving wife Sonja, son Anthony, sister Melissa Melton (Art Newsome), brothers-in-law Rodney Foth and Todd Foth (Laura), sister-in-law Lisa LeBlanc (Mike), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor have left a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 22nd, at the Lafayette Senior Center, 103 S. Iowa Avenue, Lafayette, CO from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Refreshments will be served.
