Carolyn June Orr
Jun 20, 1944 — Sep 10, 2026
Carolyn June Orr passed away on September 10, 2026, at her home with her husband, Ron, by her side.
Carolyn was born on June 20, 1944, in Childress, Texas, to Roy and Billie (Thorp) Donaldson Sr. She graduated from Pasadena High School in Pasadena, Texas, in 1962. Shortly after graduation, she began an eight-year career in civil service with the United States Air Force. She served as secretary to Major Ralph J. Maglione, who later became commander of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
While stationed at the Pentagon, she met Ronald C. Orr. Ron and Carolyn were married in August 1965 in Texas and began a life together that took them to Germany, Colorado, and eventually Tucson, Arizona, where they made their home for the past 49 years.
Carolyn continued her career with the United States Postal Service, working in Human Resources in Tucson for 25 years. She loved her work and especially treasured the friendships she formed with her coworkers. She also taught courses at Pima Community College and was a member of Toastmasters.
She was a natural-born seamstress and quilter, a skill she first learned at the age of 12 on her grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. She used those skills to make clothes for her sister, dresses for her daughter, and Halloween costumes for her three grandchildren.
Carolyn was also an avid reader and a voracious crossword solver, and she was famously generous when leaving a tip. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel loved and remembered. She cared deeply for her family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers and never hesitated to show her appreciation for others. She also saved every photograph, a fitting testament to how much she valued the people and memories that touched her life.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Sr. and Billie, and her sister, Joyce.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ron Orr; her daughter, Terry Monfort, and her husband, Jason; her son, Michael Orr, and his wife, Jodi; her three grandsons, Elliot, Ian, and Kellen; and her siblings, Bonnie, Roy Jr., Tim, and Greg.
In keeping with Carolyn’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A celebration of her life will be scheduled for a future date.
