In Loving Memory of Jane Schneider

Jane Schneider was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong caregiver whose warmth, service, and bright spirit touched everyone around her.

Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on September 21, 1941, Jane was the beloved daughter of the late Burdette Workman and Margaretta (Peggy) Burbridge Gainer of Fairmont, West Virginia, and Tucson, Arizona. She was also preceded in death by her older brother, Gordon Gainer of Newark, Ohio. From her youth, Jane embraced a heart for community, actively participating in Girl Scouts, the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Rainbow Girls, and numerous other civic and school organizations. After graduating from East Fairmont High School, she earned a college scholarship through an award-winning essay contest – America’s Crusade for Free Men’s Rights, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fairmont. She went on to attend Fairmont State College and graduated from the Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing. Throughout her life, Jane deeply valued learning, continuing her education at West Virginia University, the University of Oklahoma, and Central State College in Oklahoma. Her lifelong dedication to serving others shone through her involvement as a charter member of the Soroptimist Club in Morgantown, West Virginia, and her membership in the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Fairmont and the American Nurses Association.

Jane met Edward William Schneider, III at a high school basketball game in Fairmont, West Virginia and they married 5 years later. They lived in Morgantown, West Virginia, where Ed earned his Doctorate of Dentistry Degree from West Virginia University. Following his graduation, Ed joined the United States Army, and they were posted in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Upon discharge from the army, Jane and Ed settled in Tucson, Arizona, where they built a beautiful life and raised their family. Jane is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Dr. Edward Schneider; her 3 children: daughter, Kimberly Jane Schneider Wolff (Steve) of Federal Way, Washington; her son, Kraig Edward Schneider (Amy) of Tucson; her daughter, Kyndal Joann Schneider of Tucson. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren: Krystal Wolff (Adolfo) of Norfolk, Virginia; Kevin Wolff of Laguna Beach, California; and Evan, Trey, and Reed Schneider, Drew Karczewski (Dani), Chase, and Madz Schneider, all of Tucson, Arizona.

Jane poured her energy into her community and family. In Tucson, she was deeply involved with the Assistance League of Tucson, serving in various leadership positions. She was a charter member of Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, a member of the Tucson Museum of Art and the Tucson Symphony Association, and an enthusiastic supporter of her children’s schools and community groups.

Throughout her years in Tucson, Jane balanced many roles with grace. She worked part-time as a Registered Nurse in her husband’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery office, volunteered in local schools and hospitals, and briefly enjoyed working at the Sears Catalog Call Center and US Postal Service. She returned to her passion for nursing at the American Red Cross before completing her nursing career in the Hemotherapy and Apheresis Department at the University of Arizona Medical Center. Always ready for a new challenge and eager to support her family, Jane became a realtor and enjoyed working with her son, Kraig.

While she took immense pride in all her professional and volunteer work, Jane’s most cherished roles were those of wife, mom, and grandma. She treasured every moment spent at home and traveling with her beloved family and close friends.
