In Loving Memory of John Walter Stone

John Walter Stone of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025. Born July 5, 1961 in New Mexico, John spent his life on America’s highways as a proud professional truck driver. For many years he drove for Bekins Van Lines, earning a coveted spot on their Elite Fleet – a testament to his skill, his perfect safety record, and the respect he commanded from everyone in the industry. He logged millions of safe miles, always delivering on time and with a smile.

John was the definition of generous. If you needed help, he was there – no questions asked, whether it was fixing a neighbor’s car, slipping a few dollars to someone down on their luck, or quietly making sure his family never went without. He loved his country deeply, flew the flag every day, and never missed a chance to thank a veteran.

When not working, John still traveled the country roads on his motorcycle around Arizona. He also loved to fish and enjoyed the company of animals – especially dogs. It’s unfortunate that his health issues related to his long-haul life prevented him from seeing some of America’s most beautiful sites during his retirement. He traveled the U.S. from coast to coast but was never able to explore the country’s historic and national parks system.

John never had children; however, he was married twice. His first to Kathy Bentley in Florida and his second to Lori Stone from California. Though his marriages didn’t last, due in part to always being on the road, his wives loved him dearly. The majority of John’s immediate family have passed away, but he is survived by his brother Eddie Stone and sister Deborah Patterson.

He will be remembered as a big-hearted man with the CB handle “The Rolling Stone,” who kept the wheels turning, loved his family fiercely, and never met a person he wouldn’t help
