Nancy Ann Mcconaughy

Nancy Ann McConaughy, 71 died at Tucson Medical Center on June 24, 2025, after a brief illness. 

Nancy was born in Mineola, New York on February 5, 1954, to Robert L and Justine (Maloney) McConaughy. She was raised in Baldwin, New York where she was an excellent student and had a deep love for music and crafting. 

She graduated from Duke University School of Nursing in 1976. She worked as a nurse in Charlotte and Richmond Virginia and in Tucson, Arizona. For much of her career she specialized in Neurological Nursing. 

Nancy earned a Master of Science in Nursing as well as becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Nurse Practitioner. She loved caring for her patients and contributing to the knowledge and skill sets of her colleagues. 

She loved reading, rubber stamping, paper crafting and music. She was a devoted member of a book club for more than two decades and a rubber stamp group for nearly as long. 

She is predeceased by her parents, Robert, and Justine McConaughy. She is survived by her sister Wendy (Joel) Harbarger, her nephew Nate (Katie) Harbarger, niece Molly Harbarger and grandnieces Hadley and Sophie Harbarger. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Bring's Broadway Chapel at 11:00am Thursday, July 10 at 6910 E Broadway Blvd. She will be cremated, and her ashes spread in the same location as her parents later. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be donated to the University of Arizona College of Nursing through the University of Arizona Foundation or to Arizona Public Media (AZPM).
