Sandra "Sandy" Ann Shaeffer, 67, passed away August 2nd, 2026, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Throughout her life, Sandy was known for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Born on March 7, 1959, Sandy pursued higher education at Yuba City College and later the University of Maryland. She built a successful professional career, serving in Human Resources and as an Executive Assistant at Ventana Medical Systems (now Roche) and HTG Molecular, where she was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and compassionate spirit.

Sandy was the beloved wife of Marc Shaeffer and the devoted mother of Randi Shaeffer. She is also survived by her brothers John & Donald, sister Debbie, Cousin Charlotte, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives she touched over the years.

Outside of work, Sandy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved watching her favorite television shows, biking, hiking, and spending time with the people and pets she loved. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the companionship of her beloved cats—Joey, Leo, Lexi, Meredith, and Dillon.

She was preceded in death by Mary, Marty, Betty and several treasured pets who were part of her family throughout the years: Duke, Furball, Mika, Bysket, Buster, and Dr. Sloan.

Even through a long battle with cancer, Sandy never lost the sense of humor, courage, and kindness that defined her. She met life's hardest moments with remarkable strength and continued to bring light to the people around her.

A celebration of Sandy's life will be held at Tucson Botanical Gardens on September 13, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 2150 N. Alvernon Way.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
