Arline Evans

A graveside service will be held for Arline Marie Evans, 88, of Chico, on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Arline passed away Thursday, August 4, 2008. She was born January 26, 1920 to Chauncey and Maude Bailey. After her parents were killed in an accident, she was adopted and raised by her uncle, Harry Wehr. They moved to Willows where Arline graduated from high school. She married Frank Evans on November 17, 1940 in Willows. During WWII Arline lived in Sacramento and worked at the American Can Co. In 1950 she and Frank moved to Chico. Arline worked at Continental Nut Co. for 31 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. Her survivors are her two daughters, Cheryl (Jerry) Hightower of Chico and Gail Buchanan of Rio Linda; four grandchildren, Frank, Diana and Brant Buchanan and Scott Hightower; two great- grandchildren, Trent Buchanan and Anthony Hightower. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
