Barbara Mae Hicks, born on May 3rd, 1928, in Chico, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 8th, 2023. She was the daughter of Wendell and Ruth Wright and grew up in Chico alongside her siblings Harmon and Lowell Wright. Barbara graduated from Chico High in 1946. Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family and was a devoted wife to her husband Charles Hicks, who preceded her in death. She was a caring and nurturing mother to her two sons, Michael and Craig Hicks and a supportive grandmother to her four grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Barbara is survived by her brother Harmon Wright, daughter-in-law Ann Hicks, four grandchildren; Tyler Hicks, Chandah Burton, JD Hicks, Melanie Hicks and her ten great-grandchildren. In addition to being a dedicated family woman, Barbara was dedicated to her community and a long time member of the Omega Nu Sorority. Barbara was instrumental in the creation of Caper Acres in 1961 as project chairman for Chico Junior Art Club. Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her kind and gentle nature, her infectious laugh, and her unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, that will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew her. A Viewing will be held from 10-1 on Monday April 24,2023 with a Funeral to follow at 1pm at Brusie Funeral Home to celebrate Barbara's life. All who knew and loved Barbara are invited to attend and pay their respects to this remarkable woman who touched so many lives.Donations can be made in her memory to the Chico Heritage Association.
