BEULAH (JUDY) ANN SMITH
Beulah (Judy) Ann Smith was born February 9, 1932 to Jessie James Sanders and Emma Iceline Dowell in Reeds, Missouri. She was the born the ninth child. She had four brothers and five sisters. She grew up on farms in Missouri and California. Judy moved to California with her family in 1939. She attended High School in Selma, CA. Judy met the love of her life Luther "Luke" Smith after he came home from his US Army service in WWII. They were married June 9, 1948 in Bakersfield, CA. The joy of her life Steven R. Smith their son was born the following year on June 7, 1949. They were married for 57 years before Luke preceded her in death in May of 2005. Judy and Luke and had a strong, loving marriage and she was the heart of their household. The first forty years of their marriage Judy and Luke moved often. Judy followed Luke wherever his career as an Oilman took them. Judy and Luke lived in California, Alaska, Washington, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Borneo and lastly Singapore. Judy and Luke lived in Singapore for 17 years before retiring and moving home to Oroville, CA in 1986. Her friends and activities were on the scale of a global nature. She to this day has many friends from Singapore, Malaysia and other countries who consider her Momma or Sister. She loved to paint, bowl and participate in the culture and customs of the countries she was living in. While living overseas Judy always kept in close contact with her family here in the USA. Her large Sanders and Smith families were very important to her. She loved life, family and friends and lived her life with passion. She had her own special style and created a beautiful home where everyone was welcome and if they left hungry it was definitely their own fault. She did not sit down to relax until everyone else was taken care of and there was never a dirty dish in her sink! It was just her way! She was a kind, gracious and very fun hostess. She made family gatherings and events a party! In this world she loved her Husband Luke and Son Steven the most and without a doubt she was the most loved by these two. Judy left this world to meet the Lord and her beloved husband Luke on Saturday, May 30, 2015. For those of us that loved her there are no words to express how much we will miss her. Judy is survived by her son Steven R. Smith, daughter in law Carol Speer-Smith, sisters Maxine Keen and Hazel Salkoski, brother in law Ray Keen, sister- in -law Pauline Salyers, brother in law Vernon Smith and numerous nieces, nephews
