Catherine Dally

Catherine Flynn Dally, 68, of Paso Robles, CA, died December 24, 2011, after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Gridley, CA to Alvin and Una Merrifield, Cathy grew up in Durham, CA and completed her college degree at Notre Dame du Namur University in Belmont, CA. Her love of children led to a long career as an elementary school teacher. Cathy also became actively involved in real estate, where she served a term as President of the Los Angeles Board of Realtors in 1986, culminating in being named Realtor of the Year in 1987. She returned to teaching elementary school in the 1990's. Along with her husband of 29 years, Harold ("Hal") Dally, Cathy moved to Paso Robles in 2007 to enjoy retirement. She became a very active member of the North County Newcomers' Club and enjoyed playing bridge, mah-jongg, entertaining, and cooking. She made many close friends wherever she lived and never lost her contagious sense of humor. Cathy is survived by her husband; her brothers, Ed Merrifield and John Merrifield, and five nephews. Her memory and inspiring spirit will live on forever. Donations in Cathy's memory may be made to the Cancer Support Community in Paso Robles (formerly the Wellness Community), or the Battered Women's Shelter would be appreciated.
