Doris Jean Kolomitsky

Doris Jean Dunham/Kolomitsky passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022, at the age of 89 in Chico, CA. Doris was born on October 30, 1932, in Fresno, CA, to George and Katherine Reitz. Doris married Donald Roy Dunham on July 18, 1948. Doris and Don started their family of four children Gerald Eugene, Donna Jean, Donald Ray, and Gregory Allen initially living in Santa Maria,CA, before moving to Martinez, CA, to be closer to Doris’ family. Doris married Stanley Keith Kolomitsky on December 31, 1975. They relocated from Martinez to Berry Creek, CA, and also lived in Oroville and Chico, CA. Doris and Stan loved to dance to country music. Over the years, she and Stan made many good friends at local dances in Butte County. They also enjoyed camping, fishing, and road trips to visit friends and family as far away as New Hampshire. Doris learned the value of hard work at a young age while turning trays of grapes to dry them into raisins and helping her mother in the family restaurant. Her strong work ethic and meticulous nature made Doris a valued employee at whatever job she held later in life. Never one to sit still, Doris maintained an immaculate house and yard and enjoyed doing crafts. Doris was predeceased by her husband Stanley, parents George and Katherine Reitz, sister Jo Ann Tullis, sister Mae Amerson/Meeks, brother Richard Reitz, and brother George Reitz, Jr. She is survived by sister Shirley Winters of Pacheco, CA, brother Orville (Linda) Reitz of Concord, CA, son Gerald (Carla) Dunham of Chico, CA, daughter Donna Ruelos of Antioch, CA, son Donald Dunham of Palermo, CA, son Gregory (Sherry) Dunham of Naples, ID, eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
