Dortha Robison

July 1, 1917 - Dec. 21, 2009 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Dortha Robison (Nano to most who knew her), passed away at the age of 92 years, surrounded by her loving family. Dortha was born in Swartz, Missouri to Frank and Leatha Emery Snyder, the oldest of eight children. Dortha was married to Richard V. Robison in Lamar, Missouri and they would have celebrated their 75th anniversary this April. They had 2 daughters, Ruby Costello Rainford and Shirley Osburg. In 1945 they packed up their belongings in a car and moved to California. Dortha worked in the canneries in Santa Clara County for several years, then went on to work 27 years for General Electric. After retiring, Richard (Dick) and Dortha traveled to 48 of the 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, Europe, Japan, Italy, England and the Scandinavian countries. When not traveling, she enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, crocheting, reading and card games with family and friends. She also was a great cook. Dortha is survived by her loving husband, Richard; daughter, Shirley; brother, Eugene Snyder (Wilma); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Dortha was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; her daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Jack Rainford; son-in-law, Bernard Osburg; grandson, David Costello and granddaughter, Mary Kay Costello. A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Shirley.
