Edwin Joronen

A Memorial Service for Edwin "Ed" Joronen will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at Brusie Funeral Home. He died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at home of natural causes. Ed was born June 19, 1922 in Wawina, MN, to Henry and Elsie Joronen. After completing school, he moved to the Bay Area, where he worked and in 1943 met and married Margaret Daniels. His wife Margaret (Peggy) died in 1992. She is remembered as the writer and distributor of "The Chico Groaner," a newsletter for local service personnel who served in Vietnam. Ed was employed with Rex Nord (Matthews) Conveyor Co. in San Carlos. He moved his family to Chico when in 1961 the company opened a plant here and Ed became their Shop Foreman. He retired after more than 40 uears with Rex Nord. Survivors include a son, Richard; and two daughters, Mary and Carolyn, all of Chico; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
