Frances Farrar Lockbaum died peacefully at home with daughter at her bedside. She was born in 1929 in Phoenix,Az to Frank Farrar and Esther Louise Cox Farrar. She had one brother, Jack Farrar. The family moved to Los Angeles where Frances grew up. In 1948, Frances married her high school sweetheart, Bob Lockbaum. The couple moved to Logan Utah where Bob was enrolled at Utah State. Upon graduation, the couple returned to Southern Ca where Bob began employment with Newhall Land and Farming Company (NL&F) and where Frances began more than 30 years as a "ranch wife" living at least 20 miles from the nearest town!

Their daughters, Pamela and Linda were born while Bob managed the NL&F Walnut Dehydrator off Highway 126 in Newhall. Several years later, the family moved to another part of the ranch located in Ventura County. In 1966, the family moved to Chico where Bob managed NL&F's ranch on Wilson Landing Road. Upon Bob's retirement, the couple moved to Chico were they resided for more than 30 years.

Frances was passionate about her family. She created wonderful homes wherever they moved. Her children grew up in a safe, warm and loving home. They enjoyed returning as adults with their own growing families. She created loving memories for family and friends for holidays, birthdays and other get togethers. She supported her children's activities throughout their growing years. Frances said, "My greatest accomplishment is my family".

After her children were grown, Frances participated in a local bowling league. While never a strong bowler, she had fun and her fellow bowlers enjoyed her company. She also began painting and creating beautiful Toll Paintings. She joined a local painting group and created many beautiful works which have been given to family and friends throughout the years.

Frances was a humble woman and she had a quiet sense of humor. She had a positive outlook on life and would frequently tell her children : "You'll feel better in the morning and sometimes you need to make the best of a bad situation".Frances was one of the few people who actually turned the saying "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" into practice. She enjoyed talking with people and learning about their lives and accomplishments. Her husband, Bob, preceded her in death in 2021. She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Lockbaum of Moss Beach,Ca, and Linda Winn (Don) of Mountain Ranch, Ca; two granddaughters, Kate Carleton (Christian) of Rocklin,Ca .and Laura Withers (Kail) of Buda,Texas;and two great grandchildren, Cooper Carleton and Quinn Carleton of Rocklin,Ca.Frances was loved by staff at Prestige/Marbella Chico Assisted Living, as well as the staff at Butte Home Health and Hospice.
