Gail passed away peacefully in her home on March 28, 2018 at the age of 76, surrounded by her family. Gail was born on September 5, 1941, grew up in Oroville, California, and spent her summers up in Crescent Mills on her father's cattle ranch. Gail graduated from CSU, San Jose and taught junior high for several years in Marin County. She married Bob Davis and they had four daughters together, which they raised in Chico. Gail lived in Chico until she married her second husband, George Perkins. Together they spent summers in Mineral and then Lake Almanor West, and winters in South Lake Tahoe where they ran the Ski Renter ski shops. Gail continued to live in Chico part-time so she could spend time with her family and friends. Gail is predeceased by her parents, Gene and Dorothy Openshaw, her brother, Gary Openshaw, and her daughter, Jodie Davis. In addition to George Perkins, Gail is survived by her daughters, Deidra Cross, Darcee Taylor, and Jill Quezada as well as her stepdaughters, Heidi Freeman, Lynn Perkins, and Jody Johnson. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Jamie Taylor, grandchildren, Owen, Eva, and Camille Cross; Sullivan and Grace Taylor; and Claudio and Violeta Quezada; her sisters Dede Openshaw, Jenis Openshaw, and Julie Richter. Gail loved tennis, sewing, writing, golf, and a good happy hour. Gail also loved to hike through wildflowers, especially in Lassen Park with George. Gail was a long-time member of Omega Nu. She was an avid reader and shared her passion with her beloved book club of over thirty years. Donations may be made in Gail's memory to Enloe Hospice in care of Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway, Chico, CA 95928.
