GRACE E. CRUMPTON 1918 - 2011 Grace Ewton Crumpton died on March 2, 2011, at the age of 92. Grace Marian Ewton was born in the home of her parents, Lewle James Ewton and Isabella Stevenson Ewton, on 8th Street in Chico, CA on March 20, 1918. She grew up in Chico and graduated from Chico High School on June 4, 1936. Grace then studied and received her license in cosmetology. Grace married Enoch Able Crumpton on November 30, 1941. They enjoyed raising a family with five children. Grace worked as a cosmetologist for over 50 years. She opened the Beauty Castle in 1979, where she enjoyed working and connecting with friends until she retired in 1991. With her husband, Enoch, Grace enjoyed sailing and was a member of the North American Sailing Association. They spent many evenings and weekends sailing on Lake Oroville, often they sailed in the San Francisco Bay and traveled with their boat to Canada and Mexico. They dreamed of a retirement sailing until Grace was widowed in 1977. Grace was soft spoken. She was an artist and craftsperson. In 1955, the children's book, Randolph Raindrop, combined Grace's artwork with ther husband's writing. She was an excellent seamstress and was known to sew throughout the night to complete special projects for those she loved. Grace found great pleasure in her knitting, creating clothing for dolls, babies, family and friends. She found knitting soothing on long trips and in the evenings. Grace was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be missed. Grace is survived by her five children: Marian Wood of Vallejo, CA, Barbara Skillman of Hines, OR, Enoch Crumpton Jr. of Felton, CA, Linda Hodge of Fairfield, CA and Isabella Stewart of Chico, CA. Over the years, Grace celebrated her 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
