Hostilina "Lina" Pereira

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Hostilina "Lina" Pereira, 59 of Chico, on Thursday, September 22, at 10 a.m. at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church. On Friday, September 16, 2011 Lina passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 5, 1952 in Terceira, Azores Islands to Jose and Esperanca Alves. Lina emigrated to the US in 1968. In 1974 she married Francisco Pereira in Artesia, CA. They moved to Glenn County in 1985 and went into the dairy business before moving to Chico in 2003. Her survivors include her husband, Francisco Pereira of Chico; son and daughter in law, Frank and Cyndi Pereira of Chico; two grandchildren Joseph (5) and Terceira (2);one sister, Mary Toste of Chico; one brother, Joe and Irma Alves of Hacienda Heights, CA; dearest niece Alyson Toste and nephews, Christopher and Matthew Toste and their families. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Brusie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
