James Alderson
d. Jan 1, 2001
JAMES DENNIS ALDERSON Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Human Being... James (Jay) Alderson passed away at the age of 89 years. He served his country during WWII in Central Europe and was awarded the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was the loving husband of Betty Berniece Alderson, and together they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December 2011. Jay leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Berniece; their three children, Glenda Perrucci, Judy Pitman and Kale Alderson. Jay is predeceased by one grandchild and leaves behind five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. For many years Jay worked for International Harvester Company and started his own business within a few short years. His management ability and understanding of the agricultural industry and needs of his community convinced a few local farmers to help Jay open Alderson Ranch Supply in Princeton, CA. In subsequent years, he developed other satellite stores bearing the same name at various locations in California. While Jay worked long hours and long days, he found time to involve himself in youth sports during his stay in Yuba City, CA. He was an outstanding high school football and baseball player and passed on his passion for sports to other young athletes in his community. In addition to his love of sports, Jay was also a master craftsman. His creative talents were endless. There was nothing it seemed Jay could not accomplish once he set his mind to learn the skill. Whether it was leather-work, upholstery, building projects, like fishing boats, backyard fences and decks, brick work, golf club making, toys for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, or scrolling out silhouettes of John Wayne, or a beautiful and intricate nativity scene, each project was perfect. Each project showed the depth, love and creativity of this wonderful human being. While we will miss him, his memory, his humanity, and his kind heart will remain forever. God speed Jay. May 19, 1923 - September 25, 2012. A Viewing will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a Chapel Service at 1:00 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.
