Janice Gibson
July 17, 1923 — May 30, 2015
JANICE L. MCKINNEY GIBSON
(1923-2015)
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great -Grandmother went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2015 in Chico, CA. Janice was born on July 17, 1923 to Augustus (Gus) and Lydia Clemens in Dorris, CA. At the age of ten she moved to the Chico area where she resided for 81 years. Shortly after graduating from Chico Senior High School, she married Harold McKinney. They had five children: Connie, Terry (deceased), Denny, Larry, and Vicki. After Harold passed away in 1963, she raised her children as a single parent, while also caring for her elderly parents. During these years she was dearly loved as an Avon representative, as well as multiple years as President of the Chapman Elementary School PTA. She enjoyed being very involved in her children's activities. In 1977, she married Glen Gibson, and happily welcomed his four children to the family. Together they enjoyed taking the grandkids camping and enjoying the outdoors. Glen and Janice had ten glorious years together, before losing Glen to a tragic auto accident. Janice's infectious personality was filled with love. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She especially loved Halloween and dressing up in costumes with her Birthday Gal Group. Janice is survived by her children: Connie (Russell) Bockhop, Denny (Jackie) McKinney, Larry (Nancy) McKinney, and Vicki (David) Garner. As well as her grandchildren: Troy (Liz) Bockhop, Lisa (Mike) Bockhop Adair, Ryan McKinney, Sommer (John) McKinney Newkirk, Shea McKinney, Heath McKinney, Desiree McKinney, Kyle (Chelsey) Garner, Sara (Joshua) Garner Jewett. Fourteen great -grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. She also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry McKinney; grandson, Mark Bockhop and great grandson Parker Bockhop. There will be a viewing, Thursday, June 4th, from 5-8pm at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico. The graveside service will be Friday, June 5th at 11am at the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Corning, CA. We would also like to thank the staff at WindChime of Chico, where she spent her later years. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Butte Home Health and Hospice, in her memory. Condolences can be sent on line at www.BrusieFH.com
