Jessie M. Brown

JESSIE BROWN 10/4/1917-4/2/2016 Jessie was born in Barry, IL to Louis and Mel Brown. She graduated from Barry High and Western Illinois Univ. Jessie taught school in IL and Napa, CA. In 1972 she retired to Magalia to live near her sister, Grace. Following Grace's passing in 1999, Jessie moved to Paradise. Jessie is survived by nephews Robert D. Williams of Bakersfield, Charles D. Williams of Alexandria, VA, and Richard C. Williams of Carmichael; and a niece, Lois Huelskoetter of Effingham, IL. Preceding Jessie in death were sisters, Grace Williams, Leora Strubinger, and Mardell Brown; as well as nephews, Clifford, Glenn, and Michael Strubinger all of Illinois. Jessie was active in her church singing, playing organ and piano, and directing the choir. She loved Bible study, music, reading, gardening, and cooking. Jessie was buried next to her parents in Barry. Funeral and graveside services were conducted there on April 23rd. A memorial service will be held at Paradise Ridge Baptist Church 6975 Pentz Rd. Paradise, CA on Saturday, May 7th at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made to the church.
