Joan Bruce

Joan Arlene Bruce peacefully left us on Oct. 12, 2012 in Chico, CA. She was born June 23, 1929 to Elizabeth and Joseph Welder in Santa Monica, CA. She married her love (the late) Bonner Nelson Bruce. Mom, you were superwoman with an invisible cape. Devoted wife, stay at home mom. Home tech, gourmet cook, clothes designer, gardener, athlete, wildnerness hiker, world traveler, avid reader, artist, and breast cancer survivor. You were tough, honest, caring, and raised your three children to be the same and to use common sense in decision making. You never complained, lived within your means, and lived by example. Actions were more valuable than idle chatter. You kept your sense of humor with you at all times, and when the time was right, you showed it enthusiastically. And yes, you could leap tall buildings in a single bound. We have been blessed and remain forever grateful to have spent these years with you. You remain in our hearts with love. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bonner; and son, James. She is survived by Jane Bode, Brandy and Abby Sharp-Bruce; grandchildren, James Bode, Tyson Bode, Brian Bode; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Diane Goldberg. Services will take place on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, CA. Please support Relay For Life.
