Joan Tucker Matson
Jun 1, 1928 — Apr 22, 2016
Joan Tucker Matson passed into the presence of the Lord on April 22, 2016 after a long battle with dementia. She was born on June 1, 1928 in Oak Park, Illinois. She married Robert James Tucker and raised three boys: James, Thomas and Mark. After 30 years, she was widowed. Several years later, she married Robert Morris Matson, a long-time family friend, who died in 2014. Joan is survived by her three sons, their wives, their eight children, 5 grandchildren; four stepchildren, their spouses and three grandchildren.
Joan called Chico home starting the fall of 1966. She was active in Bidwell Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. Her passion in life was to travel. She loved to plan trips, and often studied the language of the countries she was going to tour. Each trip was documented in an album with pictures and descriptions of where they went, and what they saw.
A memorial service will be held at Bidwell Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 22 at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. To honor her, it is requested that attendees wear her favorite colors: aqua blue and/or pink.
Donations in her memory may be made to any of a number of Alzheimer's Disease charities.
