John Pat Guernsey
Feb 11, 1946 — Feb 9, 2018
JOHN "PAT" GUERNSEY John Patrick Guernsey (72) led a full life. He was born on Feb. 11, 1946 in Chico, California to Chester Meredith Guernsey and Elizabeth Ann Guernsey. He spent half his life in Butte County and the other half on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, California in a little place called Homewood; where he competed against the other Guernsey family members and Lake Tahoe locals in numerous waterskiing events every summer. Pat never made a family of his own, but was a great friend and uncle, treating everyone like they were his close family. Pat had a giving heart that was bigger than the outdoors. Pat was a member of the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970. Serving in Vietnam, and surviving the bloody battle of Khe Sanh: 77 days under siege. Pat received the Congressional Recognition Award from the US House of Representatives. After which he became an Accountant for 30 years before his retirement. A strong believer in the Catholic faith, Pat never complained. Pat strived to be the best at everything he did. Whether it was helping those in need, or cleaning up on waterskiing trophies in Lake Tahoe. God took Pat out of great pain and entered Pat into heaven on Feb. 9, 2018 at 7:27pm in Carson City, Nevada, after a painful struggle with cancer. Pat is now in heaven and out of pain. In Chico California, a Mass of Christian burial will be held for Pat at 11am, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at St. Therese Chapel, 1749 Spruce Ave., followed by graveside services at Glen Oaks Memorial Park, 11115 Midway with military honors. Viewing will be held the night before, Feb. 23 from 5pm to 8pm, with a rosary at 7pm to 8pm at Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway. View obituary and send condolences online at brusiefh.com.
