Julie Elaine Reddig (Sorensen)
March 30, 1966 - January 1, 2020
Julie left us far too soon, passing away unexpectedly in her home in San Jose on New Year's Day at the age of 53.
Julie was born in San Jose, CA and was adopted as a new-born by Don and Donna Sorensen. Soon after, the family moved to Boulder, CO, where Julie and her brother Marty were raised. Julie always considered growing up in Boulder as the perfect childhood, having incredible memories of both family and friends during that time.
In 1976, Julie and her family moved back to San Jose. The culture shock was difficult for Julie, but over time she adapted and developed many close friendships that lasted to this day. Julie graduated from Branham High School in San Jose in 1984.
After the birth of her daughter Alycia Alvarez in 1991, Julie moved to Paradise, CA where she and Alycia lived most of the following 10 years.
In 2003, Julie was married to Brian Reddig, continuing the love story that began 14 years earlier, and moved back to San Jose with daughter Alycia.
Julie was always challenging herself and striving for self-improvement. She attended classes at Chico State, Yuba College, North State Business College, and Boston Reed College.
Julie held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including Lindsay's Office Supplies in San Jose, Cypress Acres Convalescent Hospital in Paradise, and the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health in Chico. Most recently, Julie was employed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.
However, Julie's greatest joys and proudest accomplishments in life were her daughter Alycia and grandsons Julian and Logan, and she was a kind and loving mother and grandmother.
Julie's interests included traveling, snorkeling, strolling along beaches, watching classic movies, cuddling with her kitties, and spending time with her family.
Julie is survived by husband Brian Reddig, daughter Alycia Alvarez, grandson Logan Reyes Alvarez, father Don Sorensen, brother Marty Sorensen (Lynn), loved ones Paul Marti, Todd Haverson, and Benny Mendez, and many extended family and friends. She was predeceased by mother Donna Sorensen, grandson Julian Reyes Alvarez, and loved one Carolyn Fincher.
Friends and family will remember Julie for her passion for life, compassion for others, loyalty, and a smile that would light up a room. She is and will be deeply missed by all.
A memorial will be held at the Brusie Funeral Home on January 25 at 1:00 PM.
