Larry Elliot Argel
Jul 15, 1943 — Apr 25, 2019
Larry Elliott Argel was the son of Fidel and Helen Argel. He was born on July 15, 1943 in Sacramento, CA. At an early age Larry's parents relocated to Delano, CA. Larry was the eldest child, followed by his sister Gloria, brother Rick and brother John. Larry excelled at baseball at Delano High School, and was seriously considering trying out for the big leagues. After an injury sustained in college ended this dream, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force. He spent the majority of his four year service in Izmir, Turkey. After returning home, Larry worked in several different fields before settling on banking. In his early thirties Larry was introduced to the game of golf, and it remained his passion throughout his life. At the age of thirty-four Larry married Celeste. They had two handsome sons, Douglas and Nicholas. It was a happy life in the Argel household. Both Doug and Nick attended college in Chico, CA where they both found lovely girls to marry. Doug and Tilliecasandra have two girls, Elliott and Emersyn. Nick and Kendall have Emma. Larry was a very proud Grand Dad and dearly loved his granddaughters. He especially loved the summer of 2018 when he and Celeste took Elliott and Emersyn to the lake house for a week. Elliott took golf lessons at the Country Club and Emersyn loved playing pickle ball. In the afternoons both girls enjoyed having their Grand Dad pitch baseballs as they hit them to their Nonie waiting in the outfield. Such a special memory! Grand Dad and Nonie loved taking care of Emma every Thursday after preschool. Grand Dad would always stop at the donut shop to let Emma select a donut. She would gobble down her lunch to get her special treat. Emma liked to practice golf on Grand Dad's putting green. She would get out her little golf bag and plastic clubs and hit a golf ball from hole to hole. Grand Dad would clap and cheer! Larry and Celeste enjoyed forty-one happy years together. The last words Larry wrote in his journal were "God has given me all I could ask for." Larry was a good son, brother and a true friend. He was a wonderful and loving husband, son-in-law, father and grandfather. Larry, Dad, Grand Dad- you will remain in our hearts where we will love you so, until we meet again. Your ever grateful family.
